Details: Mary Hart per Woodman and Thomas Collins per Almorah, prisoners in the service of John Laurio Platt.....Mr. Platt states that sometime since I lost a telescope, the one now before the court, that I suspected the prisoners of being concerning in the robbery of which he gave notice at the Police Office . William Turvey, a constable states the he was order to convey Mary Hart to the gaol on suspicion of robbing her master; On the road I told her she had better let me know what had become of the glass. She said if I would return she would tell the Chief Constable. I returned with her when she told him in my presence that she has taken the glass from her masters house and given it to Collins who had hit it, but she could not tell where; Soon after I took Collins into custody who undertook to show me where the Glass was. I accompanied him to Iron Bark Hill, Mr. Platts farm and a short distance from Mr. Platts house Collins stopped and said the Glass is concealed hereabouts. I searched about and soon found a glass buried in the ground. It is the one now before the court. The prisoners made no defence. Both prisoners sentenced to Port Macquarie for the remainder of the respective sentences

Details: John Greer in service to John Laurio Platt charged with general misconduct...Mr. Platt states.. On Sunday last the prisoner absented himself from my farm all day; on his return I remonstrated with him when he told me unless I would discharge a man now on my farm he would not do any more work for me. The following day on my ordering him to work he refused. On my insisting that he should go to his work, he made use of most insolent language which compelled me to send him to the watch house at Newcastle. This man has frequently been very impertinent to me during the time he has been in my service. The prisoner in his defence denies being insolent but admits having refused to work unless one of his fellow servants was discharged. Sentenced to one week solitary confinement in a cell

Details: Maurice Jones per Royal Charlotte, in government service, charged with absconding from the settlement and committing a robbery. The statement made yesterday by John Laurio Platt in the presence of the prisoner was read to the following effect....about the 9th day of March the Prisoner came on my ground at Iron Bark Hill. I asked him what he wanted - he said he was on his way to his masters (Mr. V.G. Williams) at Pattersons Plains. He gave me a proper account of the situation of his masters farm at Pattersons Plains and further stated that the passage boat would call in a day or two for some meal for his master if I had it ready; I was induced from this circumstantial statement to believe he was giving a true account of himself and therefore I did not detain him but told him to make the bet of his way off my farm and I directed my service girl who was standing by with my children to see that he did nothing wrong and I proceeded to another part of my farm; as soon as I had left them he went towards the huts occupied by my labouring men and who were at that time out at work and on the girl attempting to prevent him, he told her he would kill her if she or the children made any noise or stirred. He then went to the back of one of the huts where a hole was afterwards found at which he must have entered; about 20lb of flour some meat and slop clothing were missed on the return of the men to the hut which I have no doubt were taken by the prisoner. The Chief constable states - On the 9th March the prisoner absconded from his gang but returned three or four days after of his own account. On his being conveyed to gaol to answer for that offence I questioned him as to his having robbed Mr. Platts farm when he admitted having taken some flour from one of the huts but nothing else. The prisoner states - all that Mr. Platt has said is false except my taking the flour. I did not make any hold in the house. The window was open and I reached in and took the flour. Maurice Jones sentenced to a penal settlement for three years
