Details: During the past week by death three very old residents of the district have been removed from their earthly labour -Messrs. Weakley; Street, and Newton, whose combined ages totalled upwards of 250 years.....The last of the trio, Mr. Isaac Newton, was one of the oldest residents of the northern district. He entered into the employ of the late Mr. Sparke, of Webland Park, Hunter River, up wards of 60 years ago, and he was somewhat remarkable in being, it is said, the first employee on the Hunter who was allowed a horse for his own use. It will be remembered that some time ago one of our staff reported an interview at East Maitland with four witnesses who had been called to depose to some ancient boundary line. One of the witnesses (now dead) was over 100 years old, and Isaac, then about 85 years, was the youngest of the quartet. He was a pious, God-fearing old man, and had often said that he was only waiting for his Heavenly Masters call.
