The State Records NSW Online Shipping Records has the following information about the Emerald Isle - A List of Immigrants, British subjects who have been introduced into the colony of NSW on Government Bounty by essrs J. Arnold, andd Co of Sydney in pursuance of an authority granted to them by the Colonial Secretarys letter dated 11 MMarch 1840 and who arrived at Port Jackson in the ship Emeral Isle, Captain Jeffrey Scales from London and Plymouth under the medical Supereintendence of James Atkinkinson. There is a list of families and single men and women who arrived on the Emerald Isle. Almost all of them are from Ireland and are farm servants and labourers. Note - There are no English coal miners on this vessel. Ralph and Isabella Thornton who are recorded in Pemberton s Pure Merinos and Others were not passengers on this voyage of the Emerald Isle.
