Convict Ship Surgeon-Superintendent


After the death of the surgeon Harry Goldney on the Randolph in 1849, Walter Lawrence was appointed Acting Surgeon to take Goldney's place. He joined the vessel in that capacity at Simon's Bay.

Appointed Assistant-Surgeon to the Amazon in 1844 [1]

Appointed Assistant Surgeon to the Excellent in 1848 [2]

Appointed additional Assistant Surgeon to the Portland at Devonport in 1850[3]

Appointed Surgeon to the Buzzard in 1853-54[4]

Appointed to the Iris in 1857[5]

Appointed to the Shannon, Frigate serving in North America and West Indies in 1862 [6]
