Anchor Inn in 1844 7
William Witton was granted
a license for the Crown & Anchor in 1845(8), and transferred it to
Peter Hook in March
1846 9
Hook was fined several times for breaches of the
Licensing Act while at the Crown & Anchor. He sold
the business to former boot and shoemaker William
Graham in 184710
William Graham was granted a publican's license in
1849.
Moses Murphy held the license in 1854.
