Details: Robert Fleming was a son of Peter Fleming senior and was born in Newcastle in 1845. He received his education at King's School, Parramatta, and for some years assisted his father in business in Newcastle. He was connected with racing matters in the district for 20 years and in 1888 was in charge of the Linwood stables of which he was part owner. These stables contained some of the best horses in the northern district. He was an active member of the Newcastle Jockey Club. Married and the father of three children
