Maitland 1834. First postmaster, Scone, 1836-40; established first inn and store there; carried mail and stores beyond Liverpool Range before 1840; opened store at Muswellbrook. Returned Syd. c. 1860. Listed as squatter 1864. Step-father of Thomas Gordon Gibbons Dangar; uncle of Henry Carey Dangar. MLA for The Upper Hunter 15 April 1861-10 Nov. 1864.
