Colonial Secretarys Correspondence. Memorials to the Governor
Details:
The Memorial of Peter Rapsey Humbly sheweth - That your Memorialist came to these Colonies free in July 1822 in the ship Medway since which period up to March in this present year he carried on the business of a sailmaker in the Town of Sydney, and since which period has been established as Ship and Commission Agent and Licensed Auctioneer. That your Memorialist in September 1824 Memorialised your Excellency to be pleased to grant him an allotment of land for the purpose of bringing the same into cultivation to which he received no answer. That Memorialist has sufficient means to bring into cultivation one thousand acres of land, which he is enabled to prove by Certificate of Respectable Merchants of Sydney or by Certificate from the Bank of NS Wales. Your Memorialist therefor prays your Excellencies favourable consideration to his Interest in the colony. And your Memorialist as in duty bound will ever pray. (signed) P.H.
