In December 1822 Robert Hoddle embarked on a voyage to Australia on the William Penn. The William Penn departed Cork on 18th December 1822, touched at the Cape of Good Hope and arrived in Hobart in July 1823. The William Penn departed Hobart for Sydney on 19th July 1823. Passengers on the voyage to Sydney included Henry Perrier, Mr. S. Parker, Robert Hoddle, C. Seal and P. Casper
