Details: George Higginbotham of the firm of Higginbotham, Tighe butchers, was summoned to answer a charge of unlawfully making alterations and additions to a building in Hunter Street. Mr. Higginbotham had found it necessary for business purposes to enlarge his premises, and he applied to the Police Magistrate for the necessary permission which was granted in writing and later challenged by the Chief Constable Samuel Holt
