QUIRINDI GAZETTE AND LIVERPOOL PLAINS ADVOCATE; William Hawker, proprietor.-This paper was established in 1885, and issued as a weekly by the present proprietor. It has been lately extended to a bi-weekly, is published in the interests of actual settlement, and has a circulation throughout the Liverpool Plains district. Mr. Hawker has had considerable colonial experience in various parts of the colony, and is well qualified to advocate the causes of agriculture and settlement. He was born in 1857 near Rylstone, and is the son of Bybe Hawkins of Rylstone. He was educated privately, and followed pastoral pursuits for some years. Manifesting a predilection for literary pursuits, and acting frequently as correspondent to the Sydney press, he in 1885 settled at Quirindi and started the Gazette. He was married in 1885 to the daughter of Thos. Arnold of Blackville, Liverpool Plains. He is a member of the school-of-arts committee, secretary of the Jockey Club, a member of the parochial council, and a churchwarden
