The James Pattison, Captain Cromarty, arrived on 11 December 1838 from England with about 300 immigrants of the usual description in good health. There were 6 births on the passage and 11 deaths amongst the children. Captain Cromarty had been from Sydney port only 10 mnths during which he was detained in England more than 3 months. The James Pattison was becalmed on the line and was under the necessity of coming round Van Diemens Land and but for this detention would have made the voyage in 90 days.
