Surgeon James Hamilton kept a Medical Journal from 10 March to 12 September 1821. On the 19th March 80 convicts were received onto the 'Adamant' from the Justitia. None were ill. The 'Adamant' departed England 30th March 1821 under Captain William Ebsworthy and arrived on 8th September 1821 . 'The Prisoners landed from the Adamant appeared to be in the very best health. They were inspected by the Lieut-Gov and then assigned to their various employments.' .

This Evening arrived from England, which she left on the 29th of March, the ship Adamant Captain Elsworthy, having on board 144 male prisoners-all in health : one died on the passage, and a sailor unfortunately fell overboard this morning off the port, and was drowned. The Surgeon Superintendent is Dr. Hamilton, R. N. The military guard consists of a detachment of the 34th and 48th, under orders of Lieut.Thompson, 34th Regt.
