Thomas Coyle per John Barry, in government service charged with being out of quarters at unseasonable hours. William Turvey, constable states - the night before last on going my rounds, at about 1/4 pas ten I met the prisoner near Mr. Beatties premises. He told me he had been in the bush with the blacks and did not know that it had been so late. He had a knife on him. On my enquiring for him at his quarters I was told he had gone half an hour before. The prisoner states - I had returned late from my work and was getting my supper. I had the knife in my hand to cut it. I heard the blacks making a noise, I went out to see them and returning was met by the constable. Thomas Coyle sentenced to be sent to Sydney for the purpose of being returned to Port Macquarie
