Levi Abrahams, arrived on the convict ship Marquis of Hastings in 1826 - . In November 1824 he had moved to London from Manchester with his wife Mary in search of work. They resided with Mr. Chapples at Great Earl Street. Four weeks later he was apprehended for breaking into the house of William Fraser and stealing various articles. Although he threw himself on the mercy of the court stating in his defence that he had been led astray by men who were old in crime, he received a sentence of Death. His sentence was commuted to transportation for Life and by 1828 he was lodged in the convict barracks at Newcastle. He received a ticket of leave in 1847 and later a Conditional Pardon.
