Departure of the 80th Regiment under Major Bunbury for India. Captain Rinaldo Scheberras  who had been stationed in Maitland departed with the regiment

Parchment manufactured by Messrs. Mears & Co in Maitland. Between forty and fifty skins of parchment were first made. The Maitland Mercury reported that the parchment possessed a good body, was well and evenly manufactured; and took the ink as well and freely as paper without requiring to be pounced or rubbed with pumice stone previous to writing on.
