Governor Bourke visited Newcastle on the Ceres. He inspected the site for the New Military Barracks and other buildings which were to be erected at Newcastle, proceeded overland to Brisbane Water and returned to Sydney April 26.

Death of Dorothy Paty at Newcastle

Gravestone at Christchurch  -

Eliza Dorothy Mary Paty, daughter of Dep. Assistant Commissary Gen. Paty and of Dorothy his wife died at Newcastle 8th January 1831 aged 8 months and 8 days.

Dorothy his wife third daughter of Thomas Burnard of Devon died at Newcastle 17 October 1836 aged 34 years.
