Ship News

Plymouth May 27.......

The Investigator sloop of war, of 14 guns, Capt. Matthew Flinders, which sailed on Discoveries the 20th July 1801, was when Mr. Thompson (surgeon) sailed, circumnavigating New Holland, and was expected at Port Jackson in the course of the present month: accounts had been received from her, stating that her crew were well and remained free of the scurvy, but which was the reverse with the crews of the French vessels under the command of Monsieur Baudin, who were nearly to a man afflicted in a high degree with that virulent disorder, owing to which there is reason to fear that the object of their voyage will be in a great measure defeated.
